McNeil Center
for Entrepreneurship and Innovation
LEARN
We seek to equip students with all the necessary skills to master the art and science of entrepreneurship and innovation, by offering several credit-bearing courses that take them through the process of bringing their ideas to life.
Here, you can learn what it takes to create real, long-lasting value in the solutions you develop to face life-changing problems.
COMPETE
Not only do we want students to be well-educated in how to bring success to their projects, we want to usher them straight to it! Since the very beginning of our inception, we’ve been devoted to bring the spirit of entrepreneurship to the Mines community, and our strongest method in doing so is through our semester challenges.
To students, we offer experience, mentorship, support, and the chance to take your ideas far and wide (and earn a little prize money along the way).
To industry, we offer practical, innovative, and unique solutions from our incredibly talented and motivated Orediggers!
CREATE YOUR UNIQUE SOLUTION
At McNeil, we work with students looking to pursue ambitious ventures and take their solutions to the next level. In the past, we’ve been able to provide a unique work space, Innov8x Studio, where projects took to new heights. Watch this video to learn about Ken Liang and Chris Tolton’s startup journey with Orbital Mining!

LEARN FROM TALENTED ALUMNI
One of the greatest benefits to being a Mines Oredigger is network and community we are a part of, both on and off campus. Many talented alumni are proud and willing to give back, whether through mentorship or philanthropy.
In the case of Todd Benson, his entrepreneurial journey led to meet and learn from Ruben Hartmeister, the man who invented Coors’ infamous aluminum can. “If I had the business education Mines has now, it would have accelerated me dramatically on my path,” he said, “Just having an education on IP strategy, on what it takes to raise money, on what innovation is — would have given me a head start. Some are natural innovators, like gasoline on a fire with an infrastructure like this.”
